Wow! So the day before yesterday, after my usual hours at work, I came in for my first youth night class as I was replacing someone who was sick, and I had the best time ever! It was so much fun, all the kids were pumped from school and it was so much fun! Even though there was one who was a little frustrated, I ended up having a blast! I was just one of those enthusiastic, crazy, fun instructors that night that was totally running on adrenaline. Even though I am so tired and sore, today was my day off and man it was very nice just to be able to turn over in bed and go back to sleep! Ahh!! So nice! I work for the next 7 days, and next Thursday is my next day off, but that's okay  because it's so much fun.
I am continuing to look for things- volunteer or retreats for after the ski season, and I am very excited to travel abroad.
I watched Mao's Last Dancer last night and it was quite a very good movie, I loved the story!!! The story was beautiful!! However, the portrayal of the story wasn't my favourite, but the story was so good, I forgave it!!
Yeah! so life's going good right now!

Worst day skiing??

It's totally been a long, long time.....sorry Oma and Opa!! hehe <3

So today I have the worst day in my ski instructing career. Today, a whole ton of ski instructors called in sick so we were pretty short on staff...so we had to combine classes which gave us huge classes and the parents got really super grumpy because they were unhappy with the class sizes, which could be understandable, and then the kids got cold so we had to go in and warm up which got the parents upset even more because they weren't skiing...and I mean, if I was a parent, I'd be upset too because it is a lot of money, but it is not my fault that the parents didn't dress their kids warm enough for the weather....so GOD!!! So that was the first time ever I had to deal with an angry/upset parent without my team lead/supervisor there, because they were instructing because we were short on staff. So today was a complete gong show. I honestly, don't remember what happened over the past few days.....but I'll try to give you the highlights...
The women's group I had today was much better than last week because they seemed a lot more confident which was very good, we got up on the chair! Wahoo! and then, I went on preschool, only 2 kids showed up out of 5, and one had a super grumpy stupid parent who didn't know that his kids last name was put under his mothers last name so he had difficulty finding the instructor because no one Bob D, but he was registered under Bob H or something (I just made that up on the spot...) so pathetic!!

Alright, so that was my frustrating day today! Yesterday, we had cross-over sesssions, which is pretty much where the ski instructors teach the snowboard instructors how to ski, and the snowboard instructors teach the ski instructors how to snowboard...so I learned/refreshed how to snowboard yesterday which was a blast!! I even got up on the chair!! and then only wiped out twice!! Lots of fun, they had offered it again today, but I was so exhausted and frustrated I knew that I'd end up hurting myself if I went, so I missed it...They'll offer it again, I'm sure before the end of the season, so no worries!

Um, yes, I have to work Monday and Tuesday as well, doing schools that come for a day, and then I have Wednesday off!! On which, I am hoping to clean my room (it's in need of a desperate clean!!) and just kind of relax and not do anything!! Maybe go look at nice double lined gloves so I don't have to borrow my mum's huge ones! But I mean, it all works fine, so I'm not too worried about not finding gloves. But I am super tired, so I think this is a pretty good update compared to what I've done!

Oh yeah, and I am very thankful for my mum and dad who put up with my venting every day when I come home from work and debrief everything that happened, and I vent my anger about the frustrating kids and parents I deal with, so thanks! <3 hehe wuv you!

And I just wanted to say last week when it was warm, my skis were so sticky I could walk up and down the hill flat footed and not slide...it was kind of sad...!

Today I got a little different schedule! Fridays = preschool, Saturday = youth, and Sunday morning is youth, afternoon = day business (I did a women's program which I was excited for, but when I met them they really seemed to have the energy of 'girls'. You know, like scared of everything, not very outgoing etc etc which was kind of sad...and then I did day business- the discover program which was 12 people who discover skiing for themselves, it's just there's an instructor guiding the way) Now, I am super tired and kind of grumpy....
Yesterday, I had to work until 5pm, + training in there too, and then I had to come home quick for y family, as everyone had come over to celebrate my birthday partay, we all ate home-made delicious pizza and cake, then I opened some wonderful presents for my 18th birthday! Yippee~!!

Today, after work, I ran in lululemon to pick up my lovely studio pants and they are super comfortable! yyaayy!!!!! I need some more tea, then tomorrow I am not working, because there is a mountain day which I am not going to because I am wayy too tired and I ski every day, and they'll have another one later....I am so tired...night night

A Little More of a update...

So yesterday's little blerp was kind of pathetic...so...I'm going to try and fix that. I'll start from Jan 8. That's my birthday! Yayy! I was working from 8:15 to 3:30- we had a school camp come in to learn to ski in one day...I had a group of 16 grade fours...!! I also had an assistant pro (AP) who was a snowboard instructor but helped out with skiing because we were short on skiing instructors and they had almost no snowboard students. Then after lunch, I acquired one more AP who was actually an AP (not a qualified instructor, usually a ski/snowboard volunteer who are gaining hours to work towards their ski/snowboard instructor certification) and it was lots of help. I think we had fun, although at the end of the day, I was going to ski straight until 2:30, but apparently that was the time they needed to be on the bus, so we didn't have time for the gold carpet. (we were on silver and bronze for most of the day working on stopping..and some turns). Due to the lack of gold carpet, I had some tears and anger from the kids....but what can I do? Its not my fault. So we just went inside to the rental shop and said 'see ya' and that was my day pretty much!
Jan 9 and 10, I had/have off! Yesterday, mum and I went out, first out for tea and a little cake, then we went for a walk with the doggie and then we went shopping, which is not a very usual outing for me. I spent, I think, all of my Christmas money XD I bought a ski sweater that is purple and fits me like a glove and I like it alot! I also bought a travel bag, which is also purple, and a lululemon hairband that is thick enough to close the gap between my ski helmet and ski goggles so the slit on my forehead doesn't get cold! We also bought some birthday presents, but I'll tell you what they are when I open them heeh! The sweater, bag and head band were all presents to myself from myself! yay! heeh
Today, it is snowing to beat the band and so we were planning on going out to MEC to look for some nice gloves that actually fit me rather than me borrowing from my mum, and maybe going to look at some ski goggles, but they're not necessary- I can enjoy the rest of the ski season with what I have so it's not a big deal! Today we also were planning on going for a walk on nosehill but because it's snowing...quite heavily...we probably won't go out!
Tomorrow I am working from 10:15-3:30! And I'm also working all weekend from 8:30-5. and next week I only have 1 day off- but that's okay because this week I've had 3 days off, so it doesn't really matter or count!
We'll I think that this is sufficient, and I don't really have anything else to say!

Birthday and Days off

Yesterday was my birthday and today I had a wonderful day off and I went for tea, a nice walk and surprisingly shopping! Something that I don't particularly do very often, but I went today and spent my Christmas money!! Yay! hehe!!
This evening, it's been snowing so a fresh layer of nice snow has covered the ground! It's very pretty and then at COP there should be fresh powder! That's really all for now!!

End of 5 Day Camps!

Wow, it's been a while since I've been on the computer!! Today was the last day of the 5 day camps which was lots and lots of fun! However, today because the wind was super duper strong, they had to close the chairlift!! Which meant that the level 2's couldn't go with me :( But most of them will go with their parents another day! This morning's class, I have never seen so many tears in one class before! One kid thought that he was a failure because he kept falling down, but I told him that every skier falls down and the more you fall down the better you are. I don't know if that's true, but it worked to stop the tears and that's really all that matters! Tomorrow I have off, I'm working on my birthday, and I have Wednesday and Thursday off then it's working for the next 3 days! But that's okay! It'll be awesome! I love my job so much! It's so much fun, you get paid to ski!! WAHOO!
