Today was a pretty busy day for a holiday. This morning, I went to the apple store to pick up my computer from a repair job. (I dropped it off yesterday.) Then Margaret and I went out into the city to meet her mum for lunch which was really sweet and delicious. Her mother is such a sweetie!
After lunch, I went over to Paddy's markets. On the way, I saw the protest for "Refugees are welcome here!" against Rudd's decision of making them un-welcome. Pretty exciting stuff. Go them! I also signed a petition in chinatown for Falun Gong. It's about Falun Gong practitioners having been imprisonned without trial in labour camps, prisons and mental hospitals throughout China. Thousands of prisonners have died from torture and many more have been murdered for their bodily organs which are sold on the transplant market for profit. Interesting stuff. Falun Gong is a form of qigong. I'm learning something every day.
So at Paddy's markets I wandered around, and nothing was really super interesting. I bought a pair of flipflops, and I was looking for backpacks but I didn't find anything. Then after Paddy's markets, I wandered Chinatown and bought some coconut milk tea w/pearls. Which I promptly spilled all over my hands, so I had sticky hands all the way home! I got on the wrong bus which took 20 minutes to get home! What a day, lots of fun and interesting for sure!
Tomorrow, there is a aroma coffee festival in the city that I could go explore, or I could go to Manly Beach for lunch with Margaret. I cannot decide which one.
My planning is going quite well! I've planned my stops starting at Byron Bay all the way to Cairns, but I haven't decided if I'll get to go beyond Cairns, so we'll see about that. Now all that's left is sorting out transport, accommodation and a backpack and I'm all set. I have to stay in Sydney until July 24 for my deposit from my accommodation at Perisher. Hopefully there is no problems there.
